Altieri Specialty Coffee, founded by Italian American Eugene Altieri after moving to Panama in 1973, transformed two Boquete farms into a renowned family business. Placing in the top 3 at the Best of Panama in 2017 and 2024, they’re known for high-quality specialty coffee, personalized service, and community support, including housing, education, and medical care for workers and their families.
Mima Estate’s Dilgo coffee, grown at 1780 meters on the slopes of Baru Volcano, is the first plot in the Estates planted with Gesha. Harvested in April 2024, the beans undergo careful processing, including the removal of low-density cherries, depulping, and a 16-hour soak. After washing, they are sun-dried on African beds at 1800 meters until they reach 11% humidity, then stored in grain pro bags in a temperature-controlled warehouse for resting.
Fun fact: The lot is named Dilgo, after Founder Eugene Altieri’s grandchild.
The coffee was harvested in April 2024 and arrived at Bean & Bean’s roastery in June 2024. This coffee will only be roasted on select days to ensure maximum freshness. A 2-3 week wait to receive the coffee after ordering should be expected.
