Jamie's Competition Coffee: Panama Janson Gesha Washed 1010

I am not sure why it took some time to find the right approach for this Gesha, one needs patience and consistency at times. . . Once you find the sweet spot, this lot can be quite rewarding depending on your preference.

I explored with minerals, drippers, temperature and patterns, and ultimately settle with the UFO dripper. There is no need to over agitate or the extraction will leans towards strawberry and rasberry, which is fine if you are into that, though you miss potential on the floral delicacy and clarity. Rose and orange blossom are indeed present here, thus a gentle approach and pouring is preferred.

If you already have a UFO dripper, give this a shot. A simple bloom followed by two pours. Grind size at 795 microns is more than enough. Can you go finer in a V60? Certainly! I just didn't like the expression of this Gesha in V60 despite the floral notes, let alone the Switch. Still, you can use any dripper you have, just like minerals. At the end of the day, almost everyhting is a matter of preference ;).

Introduced to the Gesha variety recently, it has quickly became my favorite. Bean & Bea's n Panama Janson Gesha Washed 1010 have been is among the top Geshas one can buy.
