Founded in 1924, Finca Lérida is one of Panama’s oldest coffee estates, nestled in Boquete’s Alto Quiel region. Norwegian engineer Tolleff Bache Mönniche, designer of the Panama Canal’s auxiliary locks, established the farm and built Panama’s first gravity-fed plantation, inventing a patented “siphon” sorting device still used today.
This Gesha lot #5 was grown at 1,800m and processed with care to highlight the classic elegance of the variety. After selective cherry flotation, the coffee was depulped, fermented overnight, washed, and then dried on African beds under direct sun for 16 days. The result is a bright, floral cup with the signature clarity and finesse of Boquete Geisha.
The result is a classic Gesha profile—floral, sweet, and vibrantly expressive of Boquete’s highlands.
Fun fact: Finca Lérida has consistently placed in the Best of Panama competition, including a 1st place win in 2019 in the Washed Gesha category.
